I got to be Hermione Granger this week and play with smoke bombs at work. Jana did a super cool post about the spirit shop over on the Bldg 25 blog, and got these shots in the process. Doesn't it feel, magical?
A little love from Philly and my journey so far. I've been a busy one over at the Free People home offices.. helping as much as I can and learning a TON. Some cool news - I shot the Scenes From The Office post for the past two weeks, and shot the Models Off Duty post this week (I got to shoot Aline Weber who is a total babe alert and obviously died when I shot Sheila Marquez) BUT thats for another day. Anyways. It has been a dream, and luckily the girls on the blog are letting me continue with those posts on the Free People blog throughout the summer! Check them out, and all of the posts on the Bldg 25 blog. The girls behind it work their asses off to make it what it is.
I'm in a goofy mood right now. I want to blab.
I need to make a list. A list of what has sunk into my brain since moving here:
1. I love 8am Subway rides. Cat Power blasting through my ears as I ride below the city makes mornings magical.
2. You have never experienced ice cream until you've experienced The Franklin Fountain.
3. My inner OCD neat freak is at an all time high and I'm driving myself insane in this little studio apartment, but I love it. [I.notice.every.little.speck.of.dust.and.run.to.wipe.it.up.]
4. I'm more inspired than ever, and welcoming changes in all directions. I might have a blog name change in the works, and I think it'll be all things good.
5. I officially love being behind the camera way more than in front of it. Of course I love being in pictures, but - capturing the world and making each shot my own, and sharing how I see the world through my eyes, really is.. beautiful.
Time for a date with my camera. Today is beautiful.
xxx, keep posted! I have some exciting stuff coming up :)
Y'all. I have been MIA. My life has done a total 360 since the last time I posted. I'm currently in a new city, with a new schedule, new apartment, new faces, new smells, new foods. New, new, new. I'm going to be posting on here as much as I possibly can - but with a twist. A look into my current life as the Bldg 25 blog intern / Philadelphia resident. I'm going to capture, write, and soak in the new. So far, on day 3, I'm in love and never want to leave. I mean come on, I got to lay in a patch of flowers surrounded by the perfect shades of lavander and honeybees today. As silly as that sounds, it was a blessing. The sun was pounding down and I just felt happiness. I'm surrounded by so much inspiration - and have Julia and Jana, two of the most beautiful girls inside and out helping me and teaching me along the way. I'm laying in bed with a smile on my face as I type out these words. Picture this: me, in my tiny TINY "studio" (bedroom with a kitchen and bathroom), munching on the biggest bowl of cinnamon toast crunch, watching Mystic Pizza and listening to the loud city life outside my window. Life is but a dream.
Developed the film from my rad soccer mom-like Pentax point and shoot camera - a trip exposed from when I grabbed a friend and ran off out West to visit the boy in LA. I love putting in a fresh 24 count roll and snapping the first crisp shot. I love the vulnerable aspect as you capture with an unknown grasp of the turnout. I love the sound of unwinding film. I love waiting a couple weeks before developing. I love watching the memories reveal. I love crossing my fingers hoping my smile isn't as dorky as normal or my left eye isn't squinting, meshing with closure. I love looking at the days we spent exploring the unknown. I wore your clothes, underdressed, oversized, and beautiful. I love the indecisiveness of each day. I love chasing waterfalls. I love the walks we took to the invisible house as the sun started setting. I love the noisy nights turning into peaceful mornings. I love the sugary pancakes. I love the smokey sound of your voice that night at your show. I love how hard we laughed afterwards in the studio.
I love this dog. I love this friend. I love this boy. I love California. Take me back.
UO Exclusive Pins and Needles Cami, Vintage Crop, Dolce Vita x Vanessa Mooney Heels, Vintage Navajo Squashblossom Necklace, Free People Necklace, Chan Luu Wrap Bracelet, Rebel Cuff, Hot Haute Hot Unicorn
Is this cami magical or what? I've been in awe ever since the package arrived at my doorstep. Urban Outfitters reached out for a little collab featuring this gem, which is an UO exclusive this summer. Having one of the first chances to style it, I have to admit, I was a bit overwhelmed. Simply put, these pictures do not do it justice. When I first grasped the fabric in between my fingers, I was blown away by the craft. Its delicate, yet well made textures are mixed in that perfect way that makes it almost too pretty to wear. I stripped down bare boned, threw it on… breathe. I didn't need anything else. It didn't need anything else - but because I am who I am, and love to play dress up, I decided to see what kind of magic this cami could create. I threw on a tight slip under, some heels, and again.. I scored. Undress. I put on jean short cutoffs, a band tee over it, and let the crochet drip down the sides.. In love.. Again. It is my I.want.to.wear.this.every.single.day.this.summer.cami. It is, magical. Like those moments you spend in your all white bedroom, with messy ass hair and natural sunlight. Oh look, a unicorn! When I grow up, I want to be a unicorn. I bet you do too. Screw the mermaids, I want a horn.
Ramble, ramble, ramble. This is what magic does to you. This is what this cami does to you - a loss of words. Wear this on a date with the one you love in a bare and vulnerable way. Wear this with skinnies and sneakers and go on a rad adventure. Wear this in the heat with some cut offs, a strappy crop, and overdose in turquoise because that is just love. Be magical in this cami this summer. I know I will.
Grab a nifty polaroid from UO while your at it - I use this bad boy.
"I had a lot of dates, but I decided to stay home and dye my eyebrows."
- Andy Warhol
Growing up in Pittsburgh was magical for many reasons - the vast city with an intimate feel, the loving people, the beautiful culture.. the fact that Andy Warhol, was born and raised here. Walking the streets that he once called home fills me with butterflies. If I could eat lunch with anyone, dead or alive, I'd choose you, Andy. PS.. I graduated! I'm home in Pittsburgh and thinking about making a stop by the Andy Warhol Museum this week. I need to be inspired.
Who is your muse? Where do you go for inspiration?
